Meet the Founder
I'm Chip Moreno, an American expat based in Cuenca, Ecuador and the founder of Iterative Systems LLC. I hold a degree in Computer Science and am currently an Enrolled Agent candidate (Part 1 Passed) — working toward full EA certification so I can better serve Americans navigating taxes from abroad.
I built Moving to Ecuador because the information I needed when I was planning my own move simply did not exist in one place. What was out there was scattered across decade-old forum posts, contradictory blog articles, and YouTube videos that prioritized entertainment over accuracy. I wanted a single, honest resource with current data — the kind of site I wish I had found before I packed my bags.
Every guide on this site is written from firsthand experience and verified against current Ecuadorian government sources and 2026 data. I live here. I deal with the banks, the bureaucracy, the altitude, and the fireworks at 6 AM — and I write about all of it so you know exactly what to expect.
